This also plays into the trading system which will also be somewhat dynamic. Secondly there’ll be resources specific to a system. We won’t be grinding to get their unique loot from other systems. Firstly certain outlaw sub factions will be stationed in certain systems (for example bloodstar are in Ceto). Now you might wonder why would we go back to system 1 at all to grind anything. ![]() Also it doesn’t make sense to be lvl 30 for example and go back to system 1 and get lvl 1 items. And sure you are farming stuff below your level that’s a given, but the loot tables atm are not done. Yeah but crafting in general is going to be reworked. It will always be more profitable to farm the highest level area you can get away with. In actual practice, however, this is a really grindy way to do it and if that's the route players want to take I see no issue in letting them. Originally posted by pandariuskairos:Crafting mat farming isn't really an issue - 1) it's already really easy, 2) you're mostly farming stuff below your level, and 3) the only benefit you can get out of it is maybe you need some uncommon, rare, or superior mats so you try to farm that stuff at lower levels so you can craft a higher level rare or superior item by breaking down lower level superior and rare items. If you are having difficulty with a particular area, you can always go back to the lowest level area that still grants xp (no more than two levels lower than your current level) to gain a couple more levels which should allow you to gear up a little more and then try the harder content again. In reality, what this actually does is give less skilled players the ability to outlevel harder content. You can eliminate xp for kills that are too low level (probably more than 2 levels below your own) so that eliminates xp farming.Ĭrafting mat farming isn't really an issue - 1) it's already really easy, 2) you're mostly farming stuff below your level, and 3) the only benefit you can get out of it is maybe you need some uncommon, rare, or superior mats so you try to farm that stuff at lower levels so you can craft a higher level rare or superior item by breaking down lower level superior and rare items. I understand the arguments, I just don't agree with them. Thanks again for your feedback this is an important detail to watch out for. It's not there yet (as it's hard to balance the entirety of a leveling progression system without the full leveling system implemented, let alone all the distinct enemy types and locations with varying difficulties), but our approach is a cautious one as we continue to develop through early access. We're being careful how we use level scaling to ensure it creates the right player impact. ![]() Your concerns are incredibly valid and well-heard, and believe it or not, we have the same concerns. Using the Extra Credits video as a reference point here, we're going for more of a leveling progression and level scaling approach as Skyrim does things (applying level scaling to specific enemies, quests, and locations), as opposed to a Morrowwind system (applied entirely across the board, which actually makes the player WEAKER as they grow in levels in comparison to enemies).Īnd fun fact: I saw that video when it initially came out about 2 years ago and immediately shared it with my friends and fellow coworkers saying "THIS GUYS, KEEP THIS IN MIND," and I can fully attest to the fact that we very much are watching out for this. ![]() You'll be pleased to know that we're entirely on the same page.
